B-FAB
Bucknell Fabrication was a great program to participate in after my first year at Bucknell given the fact that I did not design, create, or fabricate much at all. I enjoy creating things and using my engineering background to aid my creativity and B-FAB gave me that opportunity. These are some of the key aspects I learned from participating
"Team work makes the dream work"
Basic fabrication skills
3D Printing
Laser Cutting
CNC Operating
wood-working
hand tools
Entrepreneurial Skills & Market Analysis
Simple Design Processes
Working for a client as a designer and engineer
K-WIDE
The KEEN Winter Interdisciplinary Design Experience was a great, beneficial, life changing, and impactful experience that really helped me solidify what I wanted to do as an engineer. We we're mentally challenged throughout every moment of the day trying to solve some of the NAE Grand Challenges for Engineering. My team was specifically tasked with creating "Better Work" and what was so challenging was fixating on one problem that we could create a prototype solution for. Overall these we'e the major takeaways from K-WIDE
"Thinking at "50,000ft"- Taking into consideration economic, socio-economic, cultural, environmental, and overall world impact of the products engineers design.
Converting from a "fixed mindset" to a "growth mindset"
Team dynamics and communication
The Engineering Design Process
Interdisciplinary work
Meta-cognition
Overall I learned how to approach large problems from many different perspectives/lenses which allowed me to brainstorm a variety of different solutions while considering the world impact of a design.
